ICOMIA launches Personal Watercraft Facebook Page

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations' Marine Engine Committee (IMEC) has launched a new personal watercraft (PWC) Facebook page for its Ride the Wave Right website.

Working in collaboration with personal watercraft manufacturers Kawasaki, Yamaha and BRP, IMEC's 'Ride the Wave Right' website was launched in 2011 and is available in five languages: English, French, German, (Brazilian) Portuguese and Spanish.

The website  provides advice for safe and responsible PWC riding, information on the history and evolution of PWC, as well as ideas for recreational PWC activities, tips on how to   be environmentally friendly on the water and information on the use of personal watercraft for life saving.

The website ensures PWC enthusiasts and government authorities have access to policy and legislation information on CE Products, the CIN Checker and Grey Imports. In addition, an interactive world map provides essential riding information such as national regulations, age limits,  driving licenses and registration requirements for 28 countries across the globe.

Today, 99% of all PWC sales are multi-person vessels and the average purchaser is married with children, meaning the PWC is mainly a family vessel. The Ride the Wave Right Facebook page is a family-friendly community forum for those who love their PWC and enjoy riding it safely and responsibly. The new Facebook page allows enthusiasts to share PWC tips, advice, ideas, photos and experiences with fellow riders and get even more out of their PWC experience. Ride the Wave Right Facebook also offers the quiz 'Sink or Swim', an enjoyable way to learn about safety issues and to test your personal watercraft knowledge. Should you achieve 100% on the quiz, you get the chance to post your results on Facebook and invite friends to test their riding skills as well.
